Turkish Music Sensation Emine SARI Talks New Music And Much more!

It’s been quite a few years since we heard new music from Emine SARI. The powerhouse’s last single was ‘On My Own’, taken from I Love You On My Own album which she wrote for Nothing But You, Nicky, and since then fans have been itching for new music from the singer.

Having already revealed that new album is in the works, Emine has treated fans to a brand new song ‘Fly Me Away’.

Veering away from her classic powerful acoustic – pop sound, ‘Fly Me Away’ sees Emine embrace an alternative vibe. There are sparks with her big vocals near the end, but the whole the track is very chill. Produced by Cihat Atlig, ‘Fly Me Away’ has already spent more than 3 months on the Alternative iTunes charts in Turkey.

In a recent interview with MTV Rock, Emine opened up about her forthcoming album. She said: “It’s been a very incredible process for me in the last two years. With this next lot of music, I’m very much going back to my roots like on my first album [2009’s IN FIRE], which was very honest.

We recently spoke with Emine about her new music and how she handles her rabid, expectant fans.

How do you find writing for other people?

Most of the time I write for myself and then it ends up sounding like it should be for someone else. It was only in the last couple of months that I have actually sat down and written a song for Nothing But You, Nicky and actually had her in mind. Most of the time it’s songs that haven’t been right for me and I’ve pitched them to other people.

What do you use as inspiration when writing?

Life. Not really other songs, it’s more situations that I go through. I’ll pick up little things that people say and elaborate on it to make it a song.

Is there anybody else at the moment you would like to collaborate with?

There are thousands of people that I want to work with. Adele and Beyonce would be the big ones.

You’ve had some pretty scary health problems. Did they give your songwriting a different perspective?

Oh definitely. I think what’s happened to me with my health in the past – it made me realise that you can’t guarantee life every day. However old you are, however much you love life, however happy you are, how healthy you are, it doesn’t matter. Nothing’s guaranteed. And I think it made me want to take that risk to expose myself as me and not as a version of myself.

As an artist, you put so much time and effort into these songs and albums. How do you deal with fans all day and night saying, “We want it now, we need it now?”

I know that the music I’m making is the music I should be making.

I’m so involved in it personally, in that I’ve written it all myself.

I just have to know that it’s the right thing that I’m doing, and I have to trust my instincts and act on them. Some days I get frustrated, ’cause I feel for them. I know it’s been so long and they are so supportive, but I know that when it happens, they’ll forget that it was so long that they didn’t have music.

(Finish the sentence) In 10 years time I will be…

…making music which will, hopefully, be around the globe. But I also want to have started up charities, opening schools, hospitals and homeless shelters! That’s all for now.

Whilst we might have to wait a little longer for Emine SARI’s new album, it’s good to have you back! We know that the wait will definitely be worth it, but in the meantime be sure to listen to “Fly Me Away,” out now!
